On September 22, 2026, the “Belt and Road” China–Russia Sports Medicine Exchange and Cooperation Forum (Hangzhou), organized by Delta Medical, was successfully held at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. A delegation of Russian sports medicine specialists visited and conducted an in-depth and productive clinical and academic exchange with the team of Director Shi Peihua, building a bridge of mutual learning between the two countries’ orthopedic communities. Centered on hands-on clinical exchange, the forum featured morning ward rounds, live surgery observation, and an academic symposium, aiming to advance mutual understanding of diagnostic concepts and surgical practice between China and Russia.

Morning Ward Rounds | Exchanging Clinical Approaches

On the morning of the event, the Russian delegation joined the department’s morning ward rounds. The two sides held on-site discussions of clinical cases, exchanging diagnostic reasoning and management experience in light of each patient’s actual condition, giving the Russian experts a first-hand view of the clinical care model and daily workflow of the department.

Live Surgery Observation | Arthroscopic Techniques in Action

Following the ward rounds, the delegation observed live surgery. Director Shi Peihua performed ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction and meniscal repair. The Russian experts observed the entire procedures and engaged in discussions on key operative steps and surgical strategy. The standardized workflow and meticulous technique of Director Shi’s team in arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery left a deep impression on the Russian experts.

Academic Symposium | Diverse Clinical Perspectives

In the afternoon, the symposium featured in-depth presentations on advanced sports medicine techniques and clinical cases.

The session opened with a welcome address by Director Zhao Fengdong, Director of Orthopedics, who extended a warm welcome to the Russian delegation. Director Shi Peihua then presented “Arthroscopy-Assisted Latissimus Dorsi Tendon Transfer for Irreparable Massive Rotator Cuff Tears”, sharing his clinical experience in managing massive rotator cuff tears. Russian expert Vladimir Selin delivered a keynote entitled “Application of Superficial Quadriceps Tendon Graft in Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction”, introducing his experience with quadriceps tendon grafts in ACL reconstruction, covering graft harvesting, fixation strategies, and clinical follow-up outcomes. After the presentations, Chinese and international experts held animated discussions on technique selection, postoperative rehabilitation, and more, with each side contributing perspectives from their own clinical practice.

The “Belt and Road” China–Russia Sports Medicine Exchange and Cooperation Forum (Hangzhou) built an efficient platform for mutual learning between Chinese and Russian sports medicine physicians, and gave overseas experts a first-hand look at the standardized clinical system and technological development of sports medicine in China.
